PEOPLE     BEFORE      PROFITS

Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of Los Angeles;
District 9

I know that one of the requirements of a city council member is cleaning up illegal dumping, fixing sidewalks, pickin up stray dogs and trimming trees.  I share your concerns about toxic dumping and the negative impact illegal businesses have on the quality of life for people living in the district.  I will work with environmental groups and plan to develop programs for neighborhood clean up to address these issues.
I will use my power on the council to bring all businesses in the ninth district into compliance with the law.  That includes all the hotels in the downtown area, the Frontier, Rosslyn, Pershing and Gensis to name a few.  Drug dealers run rampant in these hotels and nothing is done about it.  These hotel owners will clean up their buildings or I will shut them down.
I also know about the need for affordable housing and plan to create programs to address that need and make more people in the district homeowners, not just apartment dwellers.

I have always believed that the best programs and most innovative ideas have come from the community itself.  I have a proven record of cleaning up drug dealers and gang members in the Rampart area.  I will continue to work with the police and other community representatives in responding these and other problems.  I share your concerns about crime, blight, the environment and illegal businesses and i want to work with you to improve the ninth district and would be honored to have your vote.
Together we can take back our streets, parks, homes and neighborhoods from the gang bangers and the drug dealers.  I will work hard for affordable housing, to convert vacant lots into into community gardens, and turning vacant and abondon buildings form eye sores into businesses and housing.  I am determined to improve the quality of life, by ensuring that city services reach all the residents of the ninth district.  I will develop after school programs to keep kids out of gangs and away from drugs.  I will represent all of the ninth district.  My vision reaches far beyond my own district to include the entire city council.
